Ayurveda is particularly suited to support women in the natural cycles of life, such as pregnancy, pre- and postnatal care, perimenopause and menopause.

Enhance Fertility naturally

Some causes of reproductive challenges are high levels of stress, delayed pregnancy, chemicals in the environment, poor diet and lifestyle. Vata disorders (qualities such as cold, rough and dry) can create infertility. Ayurveda recommends organic whole foods, herbal remedies, oil massages, stress reduction etc.

Imbalances are identified in an Ayurvedic Consultation. Specific recommendations for diet, lifestyle and effective herbal formulas are then given. The goal is to conceive a physically, mentally, emotionally, and spiritually healthy baby. Panchakarma (cleansing) is often recommended as preparation for optimum conception.

Pregnancy

During the first trimester and after the seventh month more care may be required. Supplementing with Shatavari and folic acid during the first trimester and Ashwagandha during the second trimester could be recommended. Anti-spasmodic herbs can be given. Simple remedies such as ginger tea can help with morning sickness, and daily application of Shatavari ghee to the labia prevents tearing at birth.

Ayurvedic oil massage (Abhyanga) helps to eliminate tension and can aid in preventing stretch marks. Abhyanga massages are also recommended after delivery to strengthen and rejuvenate the skin as well as helping to rebalance hormones. Ayurveda can help make motherhood an enjoyable experience.

Menstruation– disorders classified by Dosha:

  • Vata imbalances such as amenorrhea (absence of menstruation), irregular menstruation, scanty and short flow, cramping
  • Pitta imbalances such as menorrhagia (heavy bleeding), extended flow, cramping, PMS
  • Kapha imbalances such as clotting, bloating, water retention and weight gain

These disorders can be prevented or treated with Ayurvedic remedies.

Perimenopause and Menopause

Perimenopause is caused by declining hormone levels and this usually occurs between the ages of 42 and 54. Due to environmental toxicity many women now experience early onset of perimenopause and menopause. Perimenopause can last years and can cause irregular menstruation, hot flashes and mood swings.

The last menstrual period marks the beginning of menopause. Symptoms such as hot flashes, vaginal dryness, mood and libido changes often accompany menopause. Ayurveda can help to reduce symptoms naturally with a wide range of time-tested recommendations.

Symptoms classified by Dosha:

  • Vata imbalances can increase anxiety, sleep disturbance, constipation, dry skin, vaginal dryness and premature aging.
  • Pitta imbalances can create hot flashes, skin disorders, inflammatory processes and angry emotions.
  • Kapha imbalances can lead to heaviness, bloating, depression, water retention and weight gain.

In all ancient traditions, women are honored as they come into their full power after menopause. Make this a positive transition into a new phase of your life by taking care of your body, mind and
